Step-by-Step Procedure
  1. Grasp the suture at mid-length using the forceps
  2. Under direct laparoscopic vision with adequate pneumoperitoneum, position the fascial closure instrument into subcutaneous tissue adjacent to the trocar cannula
  3. Ensure the instrument incorporates all tissue layers as it enters the peritoneal cavity
  4. Release the suture within the cavity
  5. Remove the instrument while leaving adequate suture loop in the peritoneal cavity and sufficient extracorporeal tails
  6. Reinsert the fascial closure instrument (without suture) on the opposite side of the trocar cannula under direct vision
  7. Position into subcutaneous tissue, incorporating all tissue layers
  8. Grasp and retrieve the suture with the instrument
  9. Remove the instrument - the forceps securely hold the suture during removal
  10. Following trocar removal, tie the suture in standard fashion
